Scottish Premiere

Lyrical documentary by Mike Hoolboom, recounting radical feminist Judy Rebick’s experiences as an activist and living with a divided self.

Radical feminist, street fighter, practical dreamer. This lyrical documentary, shot in super 8, recounts Judy Rebick’s pivotal role in securing women’s rights over their own bodies in Canada. She lays out the key tenets of second wave feminism, even as a family time bomb threatens. The film closes with a harrowingly personal account of a divided self, and a startling embrace of mental illness as creativity.

There will be a Q&A with Mike Hoolboom and Judy Rebick at 8pm on Friday 14 May. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/judy-versus-capitalism-zoom-discussion-tickets-150486991643

This screening is co-presented with Alchemy Film & Arts. Screening 10-16 May for UK audiences.

Winner of the Human Rights award at SMHAF 2021.
